Special Ed students take the stage

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Cori Nelson’s actors studio class joined forces with The Stages Project, a program that helps integrate students with special needs into classes that allow them to express themselves and be creative.

Throughout the semester the students work on honing their skills as actors, writers, and choreographers, all skills that they eventually demonstrate in a performance of their own. The collaboration between the students and The Stages Project led to the idea of putting on a Disney inspired production. Narrated by students of Nelsons class and performed by students with special needs the short but sweet production warmed the hearts of everyone in the audience.

“The experience has been good because I feel there is typically a lot of division in a class when there is both traditional and SpEd students in there but this has been driving in the point that we are one and we shouldn’t  be divided,” junior, Sage Russell said.
