Winning for Alderson
Decked out in pink for cancer awareness in the Coaches vs. Cancer basketball game, the varsity girls faced off against Fort Zumwalt West winning 48-33, staying on top of the game for the whole match.
The game was special for #25 Aleuria Alderson, dedicating the night to her and her family, holding the fight against cancer near to her heart.
“It is hard to find one person whose life, in some way, has not been affected by cancer. This awful disease impacts our families, our loved ones and our communities every single day,” Coach Hayley Leake said. “The FHC girls basketball program was impacted greatly this season when Karlyn Alderson — the mother of FHC student, Aleuria Alderson — passed away after a long battle with cancer. Due to the love and support of the FHC community, donations from the Pink Out game were collected and given in remembrance of Karlyn Alderson — to honor her memory and show our love for Aleuria and her family. “
