Boys track team gains momentum

With track season gearing up and ready to take off, so are the returning star athletes ready to break more school records.

Returning to the team this year is state qualifier senior Zach Taylor as well as the two school record holders junior Josh McKinely and senior Brandon Haupt. McKinnely with a record for the 1600 meter dash of 4 minutes and 26.9 seconds, and Haupt with a record for shot put of 45 feet and 4.5 inches. These school records are from last year’s track season.

Varsity’s first meet will be Saturday at Washington University in St. Louis.

“The men’s team is looking to build on the momentum from last season with several returning starters, including Jarred Jefferson, Bryan Metcalfe, Andrew Altomare, Daulton Daies and Kyle Byrd,” said Coach Travis Wilson.

Coach Wilson is returning as the men’s track coach as well as the women’s track coach this year. Although men’s track and women’s track are two separate teams, they will have the same coach.
